Vacation Rentals In Hawaii

If you’re dreaming of a holiday filled with warm, sunny weather, gorgeous sandy beaches and stunning scenery, why not head to the US state of Hawaii?

You can visit the beautiful islands of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Maui, and Big Island – and each one has so much to offer its visitors.

What’s more, there is a great range of self catering properties available here, so it’s an ideal destination for a holiday property rental.

There is something for everyone in Hawaii. Not surprisingly, it’s a beach lovers’ paradise. But there are also many places to explore, tourist attractions to see and various sporting activities available here.

Kauai, which is also known as the Garden Island, is a great destination for those keen on outdoor activities, such as hiking, fishing, golfing, wind surfing, horseback riding and scuba diving. But if you’re looking to do something less energetic, you can simply chill out and sunbathe on one of Kauai’s delightful beaches.

The island of Oahu is another great Hawaiian destination. Here you will find Honolulu, the capital of the state of Hawaii. Honolulu itself boasts plenty to see and do, including museums, historic buildings, art galleries, restaurants and bars. While you are there, try to visit Iolani Palace. Also in Honolulu is the Ala Moana Center, the world famous shopping centre which is a must-visit for all those who are looking to enjoy some retail therapy!

While you are staying on Oahu, you should also check out the world famous Waikiki Beach, which is an ideal place to learn how to surf.

Molokai is another delightful Hawaiian island which is well worth a visit. If you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and want to just relax during your holiday, this is the ideal holiday destination. You will find peace and tranquility in Molokai, which is also known as The Friendly Island.

If you are a keen golfer, you should head to the island of Lanai, as it has two championship golf courses! And on Lanai you can see Keahiakawelo (also known as Garden of the Gods), which is an amazing landscape with various shapes and sizes of rocks and boulders.

There’s also the Hawaiian island of Maui. This is a good location to go humpback whale watching. You should be able to see the whales around Maui from mid-December to mid-May each year. You can take a boat trip and, hopefully, will catch a sighting of these incredible creatures during your visit here.

Hawaii’s Big Island, meanwhile, is a great island to explore. Here you can visit Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, which is a popular tourist attraction.

Not surprisingly, Hawaii is a perfect wedding and honeymoon destination. This is a truly beautiful part of the world to get married and to spend an idyllic honeymoon, too.

But whether you’re planning on tying the knot or not, Hawaii makes a superb location for any holiday, whether it’s a family vacation, a sporting trip or a more relaxing break.

These beautiful Hawaiian islands have something to offer everyone. And no matter which island you choose, you are likely to have a fun and relaxing time during your holiday.

Motion sickness, car sickness, seasickness – it all boils down to the same thing: tiredness, headaches, irritability, dizziness, and nausea. Vomiting doesn’t relieve the symptoms. This affliction makes you feel downright miserable and can completely ruin a car excursion or cruise.

Children are more prone to motion sickness than adults. The years between 2 and 12 are the worst. However, many adults suffer as well – often to the point of complete incapacitation.

Motion sickness is caused by confusion between the brain and the middle ear. When the eyes perceive that you are motionless (as below decks in a ship) but the fluid in the middle ear is rocking and churning, the brain reacts with bewilderment.

Fortunately, the symptoms can be partially prevented or alleviated.

1. Proper Diet

Avoid eating excessively salty or fatty foods and dairy products for 24 hours prior to travel. Just before your trip, have a nutritious meal high in complex carbohydrates. Carbs help to absorb excess stomach acid and tend to be easy on the digestive system. Don’t forget to maintain good nutrition before and during travel with a balanced diet and your usual vitamins, if you normally take them.

2. Psychological Preparation

Motion sickness is aggravated by anxiety and stress. Pack some soothing music and a personal MP3 player. Active noise-cancellation headphones help to reduce stress caused by loud sounds. Some people also report excellent results with self-hypnosis audio products.

3. Physical Preparation

If you are tired, stressed, or ill, motion sickness will be more severe. Try to get enough sleep before you travel. Do not put everything off until the last minute. Advance practice on a trampoline, riding in a car, or riding up and down in an elevator seems to help some seasickness-prone individuals.

4. Accupressure Bands

Sold under many names, wristbands that apply pressure to a specific accupressure point may be helpful. They come packaged in pairs – one for each wrist. You can even buy battery-powered models with supplementary electrical stimulation.

5. Forget the Gravol

Conventional nausea medications do not target the root cause of motion sickness. However, a behind-the-ear scopolamine patch often works very effectively. A ‘scop-patch’ must be applied at least 4 hours prior to travel. It is absolutely essential to wash your hands before and after applying. If you forget and touch your eyes, you can quickly develop itchiness, burning, and blurred vision. These patches adhere well and stay on for days. Scuba divers use them on diving liveaboards. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor for more information.

6. Nature’s Answer

Ginger has long been used as a folk remedy for motion sickness. It tastes good – and it probably won’t do any damage – so it’s worth a try. You can purchase sweetened ginger products or gel-caps.

7. Bookworms Beware!

The reading of books, maps, or computer screens will aggravate motion sickness. Forget about catching up on your reading or spreadsheets. Instead, relax and have a conversation with a fellow passenger.

8. Keep Your Eyes on the Horizon

If your eyes send the same message to the brain that it gets from the inner ear, you are less likely to experience nausea. Watch something stationary in the direction of travel whenever possible. If you are in a ship’s cabin, close your eyes and try to nap. The nap will relax you, and the brain will only receive one set of signals. This tends to make the nausea subside as well.

9. Back on Land

Scenario: You have just spent a couple of days onboard ship, and have adjusted quite nicely to the roll of the ocean. You debark for a land tour – and suddenly you are overcome by more nausea. Don’t despair! It is likely your body readjusting to the lack of motion. Unless you have picked up a case of ‘Montezuma’s Revenge’ the nausea will subside.

Knowledge is power. Now that you have a few facts, boldly step out where you haven’t gone before and enjoy your vacation!

Maui Underwater Scuba Getaway

When planning your next vacation you may want to consider a fun-filled getaway to the second largest island in Hawaii, Maui. There are so many adventurous, as well as, relaxing things to experience on a Maui vacation that you may never want to go home.

One of the most common things to do on your adventure to Maui is to take a scuba diving trip. Scuba diving will give you the opportunity to experience an underwater paradise that is unparalleled by any other. So get out your underwater camera, because this is one trip you’ll never want to forget.

On your scuba diving excursion you are bound to see an abundance of sea life, as well as some things you wouldn’t expect to find on any other scuba trip. Maui waters offer some of the most colorful and breath-taking types of fish and coral. You’ll probably also be able to catch a glimpse of eels or eagle rays as well. While you’re enjoying your underwater view look for the unique lava formations that are home to a wide array of fish. The Turtle Caves are a spectacular place to see these formations including some pinnacles that rise above the water’s surface.

Another unique experience you might have will scuba diving in Maui is the opportunity to dive among an underwater wreck. Armored vehicles, a Navy bomber plane, and an upside-down Hellcat are just a few of the incredible pieces of wreckage left over from World War II. Maui is the only place in the world where you can swim among such extraordinary sights.

Along with a great opportunity to dive off the island’s beautiful coast, Maui also offers the opportunity to participate in diving lessons as well. If you are not an experienced diver you may want to consider visiting one of Maui’s many dive shops for a lesson in scuba diving and how to stay safe while under the water. Scuba lessons are reasonably priced and usually start out for as little as $75. If you need to rent equipment or wish to become certified your lesson can become a little more costly.

Once you have learned some tricks of the trade you may also get the chance to take part in a dive tour. There are numerous diving tours to choose from including those for beginners and those for the more experienced diver. Experienced divers can take advantage of a chance to swim among caves and caverns and experience things you would not see anywhere but Maui.

So get going on those vacation plans. And when you’re planning your days in Maui don’t forget to scuba diving to your itinerary. It’s an opportunity you will not want to pass up!
