Scuba Diving The Wall off Grand Cayman Islands

Diving off the coast of Grand Cayman Island. There is a near vertical drop-off that makes for an amazing SCUBA dive. The variety of fish, corals, sponges and caves on the wall is truly amazing. Take special note of the Giant Basket sponge and cave window stills.

Scuba diving GoPro HD in Cape Verde

To my subscribers : obviously this video is not about airsoft, but scuba diving, which is one of my other hobby (because yes, unlike popular belief, my whole life does not turn around airsoft only). I’m a CMAS ** diver (plongeur niveau II in french).

Therefore you may not be interested in this video, which is indeed very long and, I have to say, pretty boring. I guess. I like the video, it makes a nice souvenir to me, but I guess it’s a bit slow and long ^^

I’ve been diving in Cape Verde during the first half of september. Cape Verde is an island country, spanning an archipelago of 10 islands located in the central Atlantic Ocean, 570 kilometres off the coast of Western Africa (thank you Wikipedia). On this particular dive, I was in Santa Maria, the major city of Sal, the island in the north east of Cape Verde.

There is 2 points for this video :

– To show a nice wreck dive in a nice dive spot in Cape Verde.

– To show the performances of an “out of the box” HD GoPro camera under water. I’m using nothing but the camera, the waterproof case and the head bang. I have not buy any other accessorie. The camera is placed on my front head, just on the top of my diving mask (you can see me putting off my mask at the end of the video).

As you can see the image is very blue, and a bit blurred. But honestly I’m very surprised, I think the image is really not that bad. The maximum depth of the diving was 38 meters.

I’m using the R4 mode in this video, which provides the largest and widest view. Which explains the black bars on the left and on the right of the video.

Navy Dive School – Scuba Class 06010

My Naval SCUBA Dive class (06010)

A lot of people ask on how to become a diver, and though I must reiterate that this only a Navy SCUBA class, the advice is the same. Practice and stay in the game. The game is mental, so if you tell yourself you can do it, and really believe it, you can.

To clear any misconception that there may have been, and to prevent anyone from getting hurt, please do not practice negatives in water alone. Holding your breath in water is dangerous, and should not be taken lightly. If you are on compressed air and try this, there could be serious problems. If you are going to practice negatives, please do so in a safe, controlled environment.

For those of you who think this is not a dive class, regardless of length (This class actually took 6 weeks) or actual type of dive (SCUBA), you can just move along. There are is no need to leave nasty comments or tell me how much you disagree. Those comments will not be approved. If you would like to say something useful or ask a question, feel free.

In addition, the soundtrack on here is not the original. Youtube disabled my sound due to copyright laws, so I picked a song that fit the movement the best. It’s not my favorite song, but it works.

GoPro HD Scuba Dive – Blue Hole in Guam

Boat dive to the Blue Hole in Guam, a 127ft-130ft deep exit and slow ascend back.

This is the first video I have taken underwater, and the first one using the GoPro HD camera. You can clearly see well the camera works on the surface but, once underwater it shows signs of blurred image — this was addressed by the GoPro team saying that they will soon provide a new housing with better lens.

This is a great and fun dive that you should try if you are visiting or living in Guam, just remember to check your depth gauge frequently because the drop after the hole can go as deep as 300ft.
