There used to be one called Scubanet but it looks like it’s no more.

I’m really after detailed info about dive sites in Indonesia – descriptions, photos, reviews, advice, forums. Would like to join as a member so I can do some research before I travel. Thanks

You might also have a look at www.divernet.co.uk, run by the publishers of ‘DIVER’ magazine, the best dive mag in the UK, if not the world (in my opinion)–and no, I don’t work for them, but I have read issues of a lot of their competitors (including US-based mags).

They’ve got their own discussion forum, and you don’t have to be a current subscriber to access old (>6 months, I believe) articles, travel pieces, gear reviews, etc. Can’t hurt to check it out…

Scuba Diving question regarding pressure?

You are wearing scuba gear and swimming under water at a depth of 66.0 ft. You are breathing air at 1.50 atm and your lung volume is 10.0 L. Your scuba gauge indicates that your air supply is low so, to conserve air, you make a terrible and fatal mistake: you hold your breath while you surface. What happens to your lungs?

Consider these questions in order to answer that question: What does Boyle’s Law say about what happens to gases when pressure is reduced? How would that affect a flexible closed container?

By the way, the number given for gas pressure at depth (1.5 atm) does not seem to jibe with the depth (66 ft).

I have two glass rod gauge 12 lobe earrings that I wear 24/7. I got them peirced in ~ June 2010. Is it safe to wear them scuba diving? Or would it be better to take them out? If I take them out for a day, will they close up?

The last earring I wore was a ring. Lost it on a dive and never bothered to replace it. I think that may answer part of your question and you won’t need to worry about it closing up on you for the short time it’ll be out on a dive.
