If you are traveling to Jamaica, you may wish to arrive at your all-inclusive resort and “wing it,’ it from there. Carefree vacations are nice, but there are a number of benefits to creating a trip itinerary. If you have yet to make an itinerary for your trip to Jamaica, consider doing so. Why? Please continue reading on for five reasons.

1 – It Causes You To Do Research

A vacation itinerary is just like a schedule or a guide. It tells you where you want to go and when. For example, day two of your Jamaica vacation may include a horseback ride and swim tour. For this to happen, you need to research tour companies in the area surrounding your all-inclusive Jamaica resort. Research saves you money. There are many horseback ride and swim tours available on the island. Which company gives you the best value for your money?

In keeping with saving you money, it is important to examine your all-inclusive resort first. These resorts are called all-inclusive for a reason. They not only include the cost of your room, food, drinks, and tips, but some forms of entertainment. Beachfront inclusive resorts are likely to have water skiing, snorkeling, scuba diving, and wind surfing available for guests. The cost of these activities may already be included in your stay. If they are, don’t pay extra for a tour or the activity elsewhere. Do the research first and save yourself money.

2 – It Will Make Your Trip Less Stressful

A trip to Jamaica is supposed to be fun and you will have fun. However, it can be stressful deciding what to do or where to go next, especially if you are not used to spontaneity. Even having a laidback itinerary, where you just write down some of the Jamaica activities you want to try and the attractions you want to visit, is likely to help.

As previously stated, a Jamaica vacation itinerary does require some research. You won’t be later disappointed when you learned there was a great beach with hidden public access not far from your resort that you could have visited.

3 – It Ensures You Get to Enjoy Everything You Wanted To

As mentioned above, even laidback Jamaica vacation itineraries are a good idea. You don’t decide what day you want to do what, but you know what activities you want to participate in and which attractions you want to visit. This allows you to get the most out of your trip. Take your laidback itinerary and consider it a to-do list. Each time you do something on that list, cross it off. If your trip is nearing an end and there is still a lot of activities you want to do, step up the pace.

As nice as spontaneity is, there is just too much to do and see on the island of Jamaica to not preplan a little.

4 – It Can Be Left with Friends Back Home

Whether you are traveling to Jamaica alone, with a group of friends, or your romantic partner, there is someone back home concerned for you. Jamaica is a safe place to visit, but any type of travel has some risks. Do your family and yourself a favor; leave them a copy of your itinerary. In the event something happens, like a medical emergency, your family has a list of all the places were your going and when. Chances are, they will never need to use your itinerary, but it can provide those that you leave back home with comfort and peace of mind.

5 – It Can Be Changed

As previously stated, vacation itineraries are just like guides, but they can be changed at anytime. You do not have to follow them 100%. Did you schedule a morning adventure at Dunns River Falls and spot the Dolphin Cove, where you can swim with dolphins, sharks, and stingrays, as you were leaving? Stop if you want, even if it wasn’t listed on your itinerary. Things can and should change. After all, your goal is to have the vacation of a lifetime. Your vacation itinerary does not have to be set in stone or plan every minute of your trip.
