Nestled just a short distance away from the Towers, Wyndham at the Cottages is the perfect place to call your home away from home. With everything you need just a few minutes from your door, enjoy one of the many exciting shows, play a round or two of championship golf, indulge in flavorsome dishes from the local restaurants, or simply relax on the couch with family and friends. For all our active guests, your Activities Department is just a hop, skip, and a jump away and we would love for you to participate in a craft, join us in the game room, or unwind in our paraffin wax treatment. If you’re looking for history of the Grand Strand, visit our on-site concierge and obtain various information on the intrinsic sights and sounds of the town. However you would like to spend your vacation, remember that your Activities Department as well as the entire Ocean Boulevard staff, is always willing to make your vacation experience the most memorable!

Naturally, the fun in Myrtle Beach always starts on the beach, the area’s most popular attraction. Sixty miles of sandy beaches provide ample entertainment opportunities such as water sports, shell collecting and more as part of your vacation. But there’s a wide range of other activities awaiting you. Test your game on the area’s many miniature golf courses, head out to the emerald-green fairways of a local championship golf course, or cool off at one of the area’s water or amusement parks. Take a cruise aboard a riverboat, or go it alone on a pontoon boat. The whole family pedaling up and down the beach, stopping whenever and wherever, ice cream cones in warm sunshine and sizzling boardwalk burgers – you wouldn’t trade a single bite of this bliss for the fanciest five-star cuisine. The kids think the coolest souvenir this trip was the genuine shark teeth they found on the beach today. But your greatest treasure is that tiny, perfectly formed seashell, now tucked away in a soft handkerchief. You’ll always remember when you found it, watching the sunrise over the Atlantic. There are just so many things to enjoy – most within a few bare feet of each other. Like yesterday with all the beach activities…relaxation by the pool and navigating 1,875 feet of hairpin curves on the Race of Champions track. That’s when you called a time-out for refueling. Everyone was craving seafood and Murrells Inlet fit the bill – hard and soft shell goodies galore.

Myrtle Beach is also home to a number of award winning annual festivals which are free attractions including the CanAm or Canadian-American Days Festival, the Sun Fun Festival which signals the start of the summer season, the Beach Boogie & BBQ Festival, the Grand Strand Fishing Rodeo which runs from April to October and the Christmas Towne holiday festival. The Myrtle Beach area is all about the beaches, delectable foods, fun-filled amusement parks and some of the finest unique shopping venues. You will find lively nightlife for the adults including live theater performances, adventurous water sports for the whole family and fishing in an area where you can also learn all about history at the same time. This property is just minutes away from Ripley’s Aquarium and Barefoot Landing. Enjoy high-energy entertainment, comedy, and dancing from rock ‘n’ roll to Broadway at the Carolina Opry, or just keep it country at the Alabama Theatre.

Wyndham at The Cottages is ideally located near all Myrtle Beach has to offer! You’re just minutes away from the outlet shopping mall, celebrity theaters, House of Blues, and Barefoot Landing. Also nearby are Myrtle Beach Pavilion (1 mi.), Ripley’s Aquarium (3 mi.), Tribute! The Concert (5 mi.) and La Belle Amie Vineyard (10 mi.)

Next up: Roy Grabenauer built his first single-passenger kayak, the Royak, in 1968.

The Royak’s claim to fame is that it set the precedent for all sit-on-top kayak designs.

His design of a lightweight, comfortable boat that would not sink, that he could get in and out of easily in rough water, and that had enough storage for his scuba gear quickly gained popularity in the Northern California scuba diving scene.

With 300 orders in his first year of business, Roy was clearly on his way. By 1978, 2,000 Royaks were sold worldwide. Today, the Royak Company boasts a complete line of Royak models, accessories, and gear.

For more information about the Royak experience, including details about their unique Blenderboat, please visit http://www.Royak.com
