Where can I go scuba diving in Liberia or Sierra Leone?

I have heard there is diving off the Banana Islands of Sierra Leone, but can’t find a reputable dive shop to rent equipment from.
Try Franco’s Diving Center in Sussex, Sierra Leone. They are located off the peninsula road to the west of Freetown–the road is really horrible, but it’s worth the trip. Call Franco: 232-76-642-003 or his wife Florence: 232-76-744-406
I never actually went diving there, but I’ve eaten at the restuarant and stayed at the guest house. It’s one of the best places we found the Freetown peninsula area while living there for nearly a year and a half.

If you can find some dive gear, I recommend jumping in off the Lighthouse, there’s lots of parrot fish and lobsters!! Also, head out to Carpenter Rocks off Aberdeen, and then head south beyond goderich, where there’s lots of fringing reefs all the way down to the Banana Islands.
There is a new Dive Center in Banana Island. You can get all scuba gear (including tanks) or refill your own tanks. There is a PADI Professional on site and 5 boats (3 inflatables and 2 local wooden ones) to take you around to various dive sites. The visibility is generally better on the West side of the island. But the visibility is far better around the island than any place on the mainland. Banana Divers is currently hosted at Daltons Banana Guest House at Banana Island.
You can call 076278120 for the dive center or 076570208 for the Guest House.
Fishing wise it is easy to arrange a small fishing trip with any fisherman on the island. For something more elaborate (Rapala trolling) you can arrange that with any of the 2 Guest houses in Banana Island. For Spear Fishing trips/equipment Daltons Banana Guest House is probably the best place to arrange with.
Enjoy Sierra Leone
