Fit, form, function, and comfort.
Suggest you look for equipment that lets you grow a bit into them.
Use your local dealers for fit and sizing but you don’t have to buy from them.
Below are some web links that will provide an assortment of equipment to choose from:
Just say your are a first time buyer and you are considering buying scuba gear but will not be buying for about 2-4 months to the sales person and they should not bother you to much.

You should buy gear that fits you properly and performs adequately for the type of diving you are planning to do now as well as the diving you believe you would like to do in the future.
Until you know what that means you should avoid buying gear online. Chances are you will end up with something that does not satisfy either part of that criteria.

I would suggest that you rent for a while until you find what you like and what size you need. Many retailers rent gear, and if you purchase after you rent they will deduct the rental price from the purchase price. I also suggest buying local, it’s good for the community. Find what you want and compare prices online. Tell your local dealer an they will work on costs with you. It’s also goo to buy local in case there is a problem you can take it back and have them fix it.
After some time when you know all about the gear ordering online is less risky.

I would recommend you buy the following:
– ABC gear
– Suit
– Veste…but you can’t just buy it online without trying it on. Comfort is very personal and a bad veste can ruin your experience.
– Diving computer
– Own mouthpiece & octopus
In that order…

DO NOT buy gear online from a place like ebay that is just a very bad idea. You don’t know if the gear the person is selling you is actually safety tested. I once had one friend buy Scuba diving tanks online from ebay and as soon as he got them he took them in for a check up. The local shop condemned them due to too must rust inside. Now if your buying your gear from a place online like a dive shop try to at least pick it up in the store before you walk out so you know if there’s any problems. As for your size buying gear right now may not be such a good idea because your still growing so you may actually grow of of the gear like your wet/dry suit, BCD, fins, Boots, Cap, and glove so i wouldn’t recommend buying that gear not but you you can buy is a tank, octopus, and ankle knife (if you use one). If you do still insist on buying certain gear try it on and and get what ever one isn’t too lose or too tight and feels comfortable to you.
