scuba diving in july?
Hi
I’m planning a trip to Thailand in July. I understand that this is during the rainy season. Is scuba diving an option during this time or should it be scratched off the list? Most of my travel will be to the southeastern coast to Koh Mak and Koh Chang regions. How’s diving in these areas in July? Thanks for your response
Low vis. The diving is always good, just relatively low vis. If you’re a cold water diver, you’ll love it. If you’re a warm water cert you probably won’t. It’s always hit and miss when it comes to storms. One day nice, next day a nightmare for warm water certs. If you’re from the UK, Northern USA, Canada or Northern European country and certified there, it won’t matter for your comfort level, just your dollar/ enjoyment value. Which…if certed anywhere there…won’t matter.

I have not been to Thailand. As far as I know diving in Thailand is fantastic, specially in Andaman Sea. Ass far as rainy season – Just Rain & Cloud is not bad – it just reduces visibility. If this is associated with wind and storm water gets very rough – no fun scuba diving. The biggest problem I have run into myself is the water run off from the land via shore line and rivers and streams.
This churns up the bottom for the dive sites close to shore. If there are underground rivers some times they empty further out in the ocean. This condition can ruin your Dive Plan for multiple days.
If it was me – I take my gear – at see what happens. You may end up in a great week in the middle of Rainy season. I say Go for it!
