Yes, it’s continuous flow. A demand valve on a normal regulator probably wouldn’t work with the cat’s less powerful diaphragm. The continuous flow also prevents water from entering through the fiur as the air pressure forces it out continually against the water.
And no, It would not make it more bouyant. Even if it did, you could just add more weight to the cat’s weightbelt… No problem!
