I want a place that is close to Orlando/Kissimi, I understand it gets better the further south i go, however, this is not an option. I am with my family and we have prearranged times to go places and I have only one day to go scuba diving and must be within around a 1-1 1/2 hour drive of the location. I have my advanced open water through PADI.
try taking a introduction to cavern diving with padi. i think the caves are close to orlando. would be more expensive but definatley worth it.
It depends on the kind of dives you want to do. If you’re interested in wrecks, caverns, springs and caves I would recommend moving to Northern Florida. Pensacola -> Panama City or anywhere in the bend has probably the best wrecks to dive all around. If you want to stick close to beach dives then I would stay closer to Ft. Lauderdale.

Probably a bit far for you, but about 2.5 hours drive could get you to Venice Beach, where you can do awesome fossil hunting- especially looking for old Megalodon teeth. It’s a very different scuba experience as it is more fossil hunting than really looking at reefs, but it’s supposed to be great to find a large Meg tooth.
There’s lots of springs in close proximity as well where you can also get some diving done. There’s over 600 Florida dive sites listed on divetime.com if you want to find ones near by, lots have lat and long co-ords so you can see how close they are too.
